Thursday, August 7, 2025

The eastern coast of Hurry Inlet is one of the richest locations for Triassic plant fossils in the world and, in addition to many important plant fossils, the remains of the dinosaur Plateosaurus and early mammals have been found. Also in Carlsberg Fjord, footprints made by a small carnivorous dinosaur have been found.

The Scoresby Sund in East Greenland is the largest fjord in the world. People from the Thule culture lived here until about 1800. In 1925 about 70 inhabitants from Tasiilaq, Ammassalik ( 800 km to the south ) repopulated the area in the settlement Scoresbysund.

It was part of the Danish strategy to forestall the Norwegian claims on Northeast Greenland. This population has grown to about 500 people in the last century, but is shrinking the last few years. Until 1985 connections with the outer world were kept by ski-plane to Reykjavik, helicopter to Mestersvig and plane to Kangerlussuaq, and ship to Danmark.  (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)d galleries. Travel insurance is important for several reasons, providing financial protection and peace of mind during your travels. Here are key reasons why travel insurance is valuable:

  1. Trip Cancellation and Interruption: If unforeseen circumstances force you to cancel or cut short your trip, travel insurance can cover non-refundable expenses, such as airline tickets and accommodation costs.
  2. Medical Emergencies: Travel insurance often includes coverage for medical emergencies, offering financial assistance for hospital stays, doctor visits, and medications. This is crucial, especially when traveling abroad where healthcare costs can be high.
  3. Emergency Evacuation: In the event of a serious illness or injury, travel insurance may cover the costs of emergency evacuation to the nearest suitable medical facility or back home.
  4. Travel Delays and Missed Connections: Travel insurance can provide compensation for expenses incurred due to unexpected travel delays, cancellations, or missed connections, such as additional accommodation and meals.
  5. Lost, Stolen, or Delayed Baggage: Coverage for lost, stolen, or delayed baggage helps to replace essential items and cover costs associated with the delay.
  6. Coverage for Adventure Activities: If you plan to engage in adventure sports or activities, some travel insurance policies offer coverage for injuries related to these pursuits.
  7. Financial Default of Travel Suppliers: If a travel agency, cruise line, or tour operator goes bankrupt, travel insurance may provide coverage for the financial losses incurred.
  8. Legal Assistance: Travel insurance can offer legal assistance and cover legal expenses if you encounter legal issues during your trip.
  9. Personal Liability: In the case of accidental damage to property or injury to someone else, travel insurance may provide coverage for personal liability.
  10. Peace of Mind: Knowing that you have financial protection in case of unexpected events provides peace of mind, allowing you to enjoy your trip without undue stress.

It’s essential to carefully review the terms and conditions of any travel insurance policy, ensuring it meets your specific needs and covers the activities you plan to undertake during your journey. Travel insurance is an investment in your well-being and financial security while traveling.
